It’s not a Christmas Cactus - it’s a Thanksgiving Cactus
Yup - I’m just realizing why my “Christmas” cactus is starting to bloom.
I get the University of Minnesota Extensions newsletter, and when I saw the heading “Holiday Cactus” I just thought they didn’t want to say Christmas anymore.
But when I read it, I realized there are Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter Cacti.
I had no idea.
I have a Thanksgiving one - it’s beautiful and pink and white - and blooming now on the side was facing the windows, but not the side that was facing the fish tank.
I turned it around, so we’ll see what happens.
Did you know that there were different Holiday Cacti, or am I the only one?
Do you have one?
Which kind is it?

Thanks for coming to my blog. I had no idea there were different holiday cacti until now. To me they were always called christmas cactus. Mine is like your where it’s blooming on the side facing the window and just a few flowering buds coming out on the other side.

That is an interesting bit - I know I have a Christmas cactus…it’s actually a cutting from a 20 year old plant. I didn’t know that there were Holidays….maybe we will have to find some of those different ones to be more festive!

I didn’t realize there were different holiday cacti either! No wonder my Christmas Cactus is always blooming at Thanksgiving. It was hiding it’s true identity from me!

It looks like I’m not the only one who didn’t know there were different ones then.
I’m also wondering if I should try to get a Christmas or Easter Cactus since I know I have a Thanksgiving Cactus now :-).
